--- title: "Emergy’nX and KNX: map measurements and commands to group addresses" description: Link the active power, intensity, temperatures, forced ON/OFF, setpoint and status feedback of Emergy’nX equipment to KNX group addresses and DPTs. canonical: https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/emergy-equipment-knx/ language: en product: Emergy’nX audience: - administrateur - installateur context: "Emergy’nX: Monitoring and Control tabs of equipment, KNX group addresses and ETS suggestions" --- # Emergy’nX and KNX: map measurements and commands to group addresses Context: Emergy’nX: Monitoring and Control tabs of equipment, KNX group addresses and ETS suggestions In Emergy’nX, the **Monitoring** and **Control** tabs of an equipment item link its measurements (active power, intensity, temperatures) and its commands (forced on or off, setpoint, status feedback) to the group addresses of your KNX project, each with its DPT. The DPT defines the KNX data type: it must match the targeted object. Intended for the installer or administrator who configures the project. ## Before you start - You have the group addresses, DPTs and command values validated for the installation. - The equipment is open: in **Equipment**, click the **Edit** pencil of the equipment concerned. For new equipment, start with **Add Equipment → General** and the [equipment characteristics](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/emergy-equipment-types/). ## Map a measurement 1. Open the **Monitoring** tab. 2. If the section shows **No monitoring configured**, click **Enable monitoring**. 3. Locate the quantity, for example **Active Power**, **Intensity** or a temperature available for this type. 4. In its **Address** field, enter the known group address. If a list of ETS matches appears after a search by address or by name, select the right row; with the keyboard, choose it with the arrows, then confirm with Enter. 5. Check the associated **DPT** field. Selecting a match may fill it in if this information is available. After entering the address manually, or if the DPT was already prefilled, also check that it matches your installation. 6. Repeat these steps for the other planned measurements, and only for them. 7. Click **Save** and wait for the return to the list. The address uses the three-level X/Y/Z format, for example **1/2/3** (a fictitious example): use the actual validated address for the quantity concerned. If no ETS suggestion appears, enter the known address manually; a missing suggestion alone indicates neither a fault nor a license problem. ## Map the commands 1. Open the **Control** tab, then click **Enable control** if the section is empty. 2. Fill in the necessary blocks using the table below. 3. Click **Save** and wait for **Configuration saved successfully**. | Block | Fields to fill in according to the installation | Role | | --- | --- | --- | | **Forced ON** | **Address**, **DPT** and **Value** | Value for forcing on | | **Forced OFF** | **Address**, **DPT** and **Value** | Value for forcing off | | **Controlled Value Control** | **Address** and **DPT** | Setpoint or value command | | **Feedback Value** | **Address** and **DPT** | Status feedback | The **Value** label may remain in English in the French interface. Take the ON/OFF values, the feedback address and the setpoint from the installation records, without inventing them: the command and its feedback must match the objects planned for the equipment. Depending on the DPT of the controlled value, **Custom labels** lets you name the values offered: enter the text next to the corresponding value. Clearing a custom label restores its default label. For scenes, this editor shows the first 16 scenes. Day-to-day use of these commands is described in the [Auto/OFF/ON](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/emergy-control/) and [Custom](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/emergy-custom/) guides. To use them in energy automations, see the [load shedding and optimization thresholds](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/emergy-energy-thresholds/) or the [tariff rules](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/emergy-tariff-control/). ## Disable a section In **Monitoring** or **Control**, use the section’s switch. If it contains addresses, the **Disable this section?** window warns that they will be cleared: - **Cancel** keeps the addresses; - **Disable** clears the KNX addresses of this section in the form. Then click **Save** to store this change. Simply re-enabling the section does not restore the cleared addresses: keep the validated parameters if you plan to put them back. Disabling a configuration section tells you nothing about the electrical or physical state of the device. ## Check the result 1. Reopen the equipment from the list and review the addresses and DPTs of each section. 2. Then check the observable result on the dashboard: the expected measurement and the effect of the command. The number of configured fields shown on a section counts the entries present; whether a measurement is received and a command takes effect is checked on the dashboard. ## Troubleshooting | Display or symptom | Cause and action | | --- | --- | | **Managed by integration** on a charger | The sections are handled by the selected charger model. Follow the [IRVE guide](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/emergy-evcp-config/) instead of adding arbitrary addresses to unlock them. | | Address flagged as an error, or **Invalid KNX address format (expected X/Y/Z)** | The address does not follow the X/Y/Z format. Check its transcription and format, then that it matches the installation records. | | **Errors to fix** on a section | An entry in this section needs review: open it and correct the flagged fields. | | Configuration saved, but measurement missing or command without effect | Check that it is the right equipment, then the quantity, the known address and DPT, and finally the observable result on the dashboard. Avoid changing parameters repeatedly at random. | If these checks do not solve the problem, contact support@can-nx.com with the product, the context, the symptom and the attempts made. French labels: **Surveillance → Activer la surveillance**, **Pilotage → Activer le pilotage**, **Adresse**, **ON Forcé**, **OFF Forcé**, **Contrôle de la valeur contrôlée**, **Valeur de retour**, **Étiquettes personnalisées**, then **Sauvegarder**; the removal confirmation uses **Désactiver cette section ? → Désactiver / Annuler**.
