--- title: "Emergy’nX solar production and battery: KNX, Modbus or Huawei" description: "Set up photovoltaic production and the battery in Emergy’nX: peak power, panels, KNX or Modbus readings, Huawei inverter and battery charge limits." canonical: https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/emergy-building-production-storage/ language: en product: Emergy’nX audience: - administrateur - installateur context: "Emergy’nX, Building Config: Production and Storage cards, bus source or Huawei inverter" --- # Emergy’nX solar production and battery: KNX, Modbus or Huawei Context: Emergy’nX, Building Config: Production and Storage cards, bus source or Huawei inverter In **Building Config**, the **Production** and **Storage** cards of Emergy’nX describe the building’s photovoltaic installation and battery, and how their measurements are read: through the bus, over KNX or Modbus, or directly from a Huawei inverter over Modbus TCP. For the project’s installer or administrator. Choose the source actually planned: an option offered in the form is not a confirmation of compatibility for a specific model. ## Before you start - The characteristics of the installation: phase type, peak power and, if known, the panel parameters. - For a bus link: the KNX group addresses and their DPTs validated for the measurements, or the Modbus values declared for the project. - For a Huawei inverter: its IPv4 address, its port and its Modbus identifier (Slave ID). - For a battery: its capacity, its charge limits and the unit expected in **Maximum Storage**, confirmed by support if needed (see below). ## Configure solar production 1. Open **Building Config → Production → Configure**, or **Edit** if the card is **Configured**. On a small screen, the three-line menu gives access to the navigation. 2. In **Enable Production**, set the switch to **Enabled** to enter a production to be used. The parameters appear. 3. In **Source**, choose **Bus (KNX / Modbus)** or **Huawei** according to the installation. 4. In **Installation Details**, fill in the **Phase type** and **Peak Power Production (kWc)**. The peak power must be strictly positive: use the known peak power of the installation, not an instantaneous measurement. 5. Complete the additional parameters only if they are known: **Installation Dimension**, **Power Efficiency**, **Adjustment Factor**, **Panel Inclination** and **Panel Azimuth**. The efficiency is between 0 and 1, the inclination between 0 and 90 and the azimuth between −180 and 180. Have the orientation convention or the unit of a field confirmed if you do not have it. 6. Complete the link according to the chosen source: | Source | Fields to complete | | --- | --- | | **Bus (KNX / Modbus)** | In **Readings**, the **Production (Instant Power)** measurement, required when production is enabled. Choose its source: with **KNX**, fill in the **Address** and the **DPT** validated for the measurement; with **Modbus**, choose the **Catalog value**. | | **Huawei** | In **Huawei inverter (Modbus TCP)**, **Inverter IP**, **Port (default 502)** and **Slave ID**, described below. | 7. Click **Save** at the bottom, then wait for **Configuration saved successfully**. ## Fill in a Huawei inverter These fields are common to **Production** and **Storage**. **Inverter IP** expects an IPv4 address. **Slave ID** is required, an integer from 0 to 255. **Port (default 502)** can be filled in with an integer from 1 to 65,535. The greyed values in an empty field are only examples: enter the port and the identifier known for the equipment. Saving keeps these parameters without testing the connection to the inverter. If the model, the address, the port or the identifier remain unknown, ask support for them before saving. ## Configure the battery 1. Open **Building Config → Storage → Configure / Edit**. 2. To show the settings, set the **Enable Battery** switch to **Enabled**. It shows **Enabled** or **Disabled**; the **Configured** badge on the card may be present even when this switch is disabled, because it only indicates that saved parameters exist. 3. In **Source**, choose **Bus (KNX / Modbus)** or **Huawei**. Huawei uses the fields described above. 4. In **Storage Configuration**, fill in **Maximum Storage**, a strictly positive value, then **Minimum charge** and **Maximum charge**, each between 0 and 100. Have the limits suited to the battery validated. 5. With **Bus (KNX / Modbus)**, fill in the required **Available power** measurement in **Readings**, over KNX or Modbus. **Active Power** is optional. **KNX Writings** offers the optional **Charge/Discharge Control** and **Charge/Discharge Power Control** links. 6. Click **Save**, then wait for the success message. ### What value should I enter for a 10 kWh battery: 10 or 10,000? The value of **Maximum Storage** depends on the unit expected for your configuration, which is not shown on screen. Have it confirmed by support before enabling the battery or changing its capacity, giving the battery model, its rated capacity and the field label. Do not choose a conversion at random. Do the same for the measurement expected behind **Available power** if its type has not been established for your installation. ## Check the result 1. Go back to **Building Config** and reopen **Production → Edit** or **Storage → Edit**. 2. Reread the switch, the source and the saved parameters. 3. Then open the [dashboard](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/emergy-dashboard/) of the right project to find the expected measurements. The success message confirms that the parameters are saved. The battery switch does not certify that the hardware is physically stopped or made safe. ## Troubleshooting | Symptom | Checks | | --- | --- | | The fields have disappeared | Check the enable switch and the chosen **Source**: the bus link and the Huawei link do not use the same fields. Do not change the source to work around unknown data. | | **Form is invalid** or errors next to the fields | Check the required values of the displayed part and their limits. For a battery, also have the capacity and the charge limits confirmed: the form accepts them without judging whether they are appropriate. | | Success displayed, but no expected measurement | Reopen the card to confirm the saved parameters, then check the project and the indications on the dashboard. A missing measurement can have causes other than an inverter fault. | If the result remains unexplained, or if Huawei parameters remain unknown, write to support@can-nx.com with the model, the chosen source, your objective, the symptom and the checks already made. No password or access key is needed to explain the request.
