--- title: "Emergy’nX power network: tariffs, off-peak hours, Tempo and metering" description: "Set up the grid connection in Emergy’nX: phase, kVA power, basic, off-peak or Tempo plan, time slots and grid meter readings over KNX or Modbus." canonical: https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/emergy-building-network/ language: en product: Emergy’nX audience: - administrateur - installateur context: "Emergy’nX, Building Config: Power Network card, tariffs and grid meter readings" --- # Emergy’nX power network: tariffs, off-peak hours, Tempo and metering Context: Emergy’nX, Building Config: Power Network card, tariffs and grid meter readings The **Power Network** card in Emergy’nX describes the building’s grid connection: phase type, maximum apparent power, basic, off-peak or Tempo energy plan with its prices and time slots, then the grid meter measurements read over KNX or Modbus. For the installer or administrator in charge of the energy configuration. To choose how the building’s total consumption is obtained, follow the [General meter guide](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/emergy-building-meter/) instead. ## Before you start - The characteristics of the grid connection, and the prices and schedules that apply to the site’s contract. - The KNX group addresses and their DPTs, or the Modbus values, validated by the installer for the measurements. ## Open the network configuration In the project concerned, open **Building Config**. On a small screen, first open the three-line menu. In **Building Configuration**, choose the **Power Network** card, then **Configure**, or **Edit** if a configuration exists. If the section is missing, check the project and the context with the [access guide](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/emergy-access/). The **Configured** badge only indicates that a configuration is saved. Measurement reception and hardware operation are checked afterwards. ## Fill in the connection and the tariff 1. In **General Settings**, choose the **Phase type**: **Single Phase** or **Three Phase**, according to the connection. 2. Fill in **Max Apparent Power (kVA)** with the site’s value. It must be strictly positive and is expressed in kVA. This field differs from the thresholds in watts used in energy control. 3. Choose the **Energy Plan**, then complete the corresponding fields: | Plan | Fields to fill in | | --- | --- | | **Basic** | In **Pricing**, **Price per kWh**. | | **Off-Peak** | In **Off-peak pricing**, **Peak hour price (PP)** and **Off-Peak Hour Price**. | | **Tempo** | In **Tempo Pricing**, **Peak price** and **Off-peak price** for each of **Blue Day**, **White Day** and **Red Day**, that is six prices. | 4. For **Off-Peak** or **Tempo**, complete **Start** and **End** under **Off-peak hour schedules**. **Add Schedule** creates an additional time slot: complete its two times. With several slots, the trash can on the right of a row removes it from the form: check the row before clicking, then reread the slots kept. The prices are strictly positive numbers, entered with a comma or a point. Prices already displayed, such as those prefilled for **Tempo**, are default values: enter the contract prices. Do not replace unknown information with zero. Tariffs and schedules are configured here. The equipment to start, its order and its commands are set in [Energy Control → Off-Peak Hour](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/emergy-tariff-control/). ## Fill in the grid meter measurements 1. Choose the **Meter type**. This choice only concerns the active power measurement: | Meter type | Active power measurements | | --- | --- | | **1 signed reading** | **Active Power**: a signed measurement, positive when consuming and negative when exporting. | | **2 readings (one per direction)** | **Active Power Generation** and **Active Power Consumption**: a separate measurement for each direction. | 2. In **Readings**, fill in these measurements and **Apparent Power**, which is always required, whatever the meter type. **Intensity** and **Power Factor** are optional: fill them in if their measurements are planned. 3. For each measurement, choose the **KNX** or **Modbus** source; only the selected source is saved. With **KNX**, fill in the **Address** and the **DPT** validated by the installer; 14.056 is suggested by default for active power. Addresses can be typed manually or picked from an ETS suggestion: in that case, also reread the associated DPT. With **Modbus**, choose the **Catalog value** and its unit. **Intensity** is filled in over KNX only, with **Intensity - Address** and **Intensity - DPT**. 4. Click **Save** at the bottom of the form. Wait for **Configuration saved successfully**. Staying on the page is normal. Changing the meter type and then saving replaces the configured measurement mode: do not count on the old addresses of the other mode being kept. ## Check the result Go back to **Building Config**, reopen **Power Network → Edit** and check the tariff, the schedules, the meter type and the measurements that were kept. The success message confirms the save: the reception of real measurements is then seen on the [dashboard](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/emergy-dashboard/). ## Troubleshooting | Symptom | Checks | | --- | --- | | **Save** shows no success message | Reread the errors next to the fields, including higher up the page: power, required prices, two times for each slot, measurements for the chosen meter type. | | **Configuration save error** | Consider the changes as not saved. Reopen the card to check the parameters kept before making a new change. | | Unexpected costs or flows | Check the project, the contract entered, the schedules and the saved meter type. Do not swap addresses or signs without the installer’s validation. | If these checks do not succeed, contact support@can-nx.com with the context, the indications displayed and the attempts already made.
