--- title: Read the charts of a Chart’nX dashboard and change their presentation description: "Read the panels of a Chart’nX dashboard: units, tooltips, groups, Unified, Stacked or Curves presentations, hatched estimated bars and missing data." canonical: https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-read/ language: en product: Chart’nX audience: - utilisateur - administrateur - installateur context: "Chart’nX: saved energy or water dashboard in view mode, presentations depending on the panel" --- # Read the charts of a Chart’nX dashboard and change their presentation Context: Chart’nX: saved energy or water dashboard in view mode, presentations depending on the panel In a saved Chart’nX dashboard, each panel shows energy, power or water measurements over the chosen period. Tooltips, group help and presentation buttons (**Unified**, **Stacked**, **Curves**, **Per phase**) help you read them. Users, administrators and installers view these panels; the available panels and choices depend on the configured dashboard. ## Before you start - The dashboard is open in view mode, [from Boss’nX](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-open-boss/) or [from Emergy’nX](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-open-emergy/). - The project, the dashboard, [the period and the precision](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-period/) are checked. ## Read a panel 1. Scroll the dashboard to the panel you are looking for. 2. Read the title and the units. An energy value in Wh or kWh and a power value in W do not represent the same quantity: compare panels with compatible units and the same time settings. 3. On a computer, hover over the time-series chart to display the interval information and the series values. On a pie chart, hover over a slice to find its name and its percentage. 4. Next to a title followed by **(Group)**, the help icon shows the names of the group’s meters. 5. If an **info** icon accompanies the title of an energy panel, read its explanation before interpreting the value or the comparison. ## Change a panel’s presentation If presentation buttons appear to the right of the title, choose the one that suits you. The active presentation is highlighted. Only the options intended for the panel are offered. | Presentation | Display | | --- | --- | | **Unified** | Unified presentation of the panel | | **Stacked** | Contributions as stacked bars | | **Curves** | Series as separate lines | | **Per phase** | Phases shown separately, when the dashboard provides this view | The energy dashboard can offer these four options; the water dashboard offers **Unified** and **Stacked** on the relevant panels. These choices change the viewing, without modifying the meter configuration. The browser may keep the presentation choice for the dashboard. To compare several time-series charts visually, enable [Shared Y scale](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-display/). ## Understand hatched bars and missing data When an energy panel contains estimated values, an indication under the chart explains the **Hatched bars: estimated values**; the tooltip may indicate **Estimated (device offline)**. This data is presented as consumption spread over the relevant interval: read it as an estimate, not as exact instantaneous measurements. This historical marking describes the past interval, not the current state of the device. An empty area or a missing value does not automatically mean zero. Check the period, the precision, the units and the selected panel. To examine the values in another form, see [Export the data](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-export/) and [Understand the exported file](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-export-format/). ## Troubleshooting - A button described here is missing: first check the panel and the dashboard type. A missing option does not indicate a permissions problem: do not look for an administration menu to force it. - Expected data is still missing: the installer can check the [address monitoring](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-monitoring/). Do not modify the addresses or the groups only to make a curve appear. - Three-phase current views and balance messages: see [Read the per-phase measurements](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-phases/). - Other questions about viewing dashboards: see the [Chart’nX FAQ](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-faq/). If the expected data is still missing after these checks, contact support@can-nx.com with the dashboard, the panel, the dates, the precision and the attempts already made.
