--- title: "Chart’nX Modbus catalog: find a meter configuration" description: Find a Modbus gateway or configuration in the Chart’nX catalog by name, unit ID or register address, including entries that have been archived. canonical: https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-modbus-catalog/ language: en product: Chart’nX audience: - administrateur - installateur context: "Chart’nX energy or water generator: project Modbus catalog, Active and Archived tabs" --- # Chart’nX Modbus catalog: find a meter configuration Context: Chart’nX energy or water generator: project Modbus catalog, Active and Archived tabs The Chart’nX Modbus catalog gathers, for the whole project, the Modbus gateways and the configurations that tell each meter which register to read. The same configuration can be used by several energy or water dashboards. Intended for administrators and installers who configure a dashboard in the Chart’nX generator. To create an entry, follow [Declare a Modbus configuration](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-modbus-config/) instead. ## Open the Modbus catalog 1. Open the dashboard configuration as described in [the Emergy’nX entry point](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-open-emergy/) and wait until the form is available. 2. In the top bar, click **Modbus catalog**. On a narrow screen, the text may be hidden: look for the stacked-cylinder icon with the **Modbus catalog** tooltip. 3. To return to the dashboard, click **Close**. ## Find a configuration 1. In **Active**, expand the gateway with the chevron to the left of its name. The group header shows the IP address and port, as well as the associated Can’nX gateway when it is available. 2. Locate the configuration by its name and its **U** markers for the unit and **R** for the register. 3. To filter the list, type its name, its unit ID or its register address in **Search a configuration or a gateway**. Clear the search to see all the gateways again, including those without a configuration. 4. In a long list, use the shortcuts bearing the group names to move around. 5. For a configuration that has been stopped and kept, choose **Archived**. The **…** counter means that the number is not yet available; it is not zero. ## Find the available actions The actions of a row appear on its right and depend on the tab. | Tab | Action | Guide | | --- | --- | --- | | **Active** | **Test read** | [Test a Modbus reading](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-modbus-test/) | | **Active** | **Duplicate** (two squares), **Edit configuration** (pencil) | [Declare a Modbus configuration](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-modbus-config/) | | **Active** | **Archive** (box) | [Archive or delete Modbus items](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-modbus-archive/) | | **Archived** | **Restore** (return arrow), **Delete permanently** (trash) | [Archive or delete Modbus items](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-modbus-archive/) | The buttons in a gateway header apply to all its configurations, as described in the [Modbus gateway guide](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-modbus-gateway/). Always check whether you are acting on a row or on its header. ## Use a configuration in a dashboard A catalog entry only appears on a dashboard once it is selected in a meter or [imported as a submeter](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-modbus-import/). **Close** cancels nothing: changes already confirmed in the catalog are kept, independently of saving the dashboard. ## Troubleshooting If your configuration seems to be missing, check the project, clear the filter, check the tab, expand the group, then look in **Archived**. | Message | Meaning | Action | | --- | --- | --- | | **No configuration matches your search.** | The filter finds no entry | Clear or correct the search | | **No Modbus configuration in this project yet.** | The active list is empty without a filter | Check the project, then **Archived** | | **Could not refresh the catalog** | Reloading failed; it does not allow you to conclude that the configurations have disappeared | Close and reopen the catalog once | If the message persists, contact support@can-nx.com with the project, the tab and the message, without any secret identifier. French labels: **Catalogue Modbus**, **Actives**, **Archivées**, **Gérer le catalogue**.
