# Group submeters and set the display order in Chart’nX

Context: Chart’nX: energy generator, Groups and Display order sections, submeters already configured

In the Chart’nX energy generator, a group combines several submeters for the dashboard: each one is added or subtracted, depending on how the consumption should be represented. The **Display order** list then sets the order of submeters and groups in the dashboard.

For administrators and installers.

## Before you start

- The submeters are already configured and identifiable.
- The dashboard is open in **Configure**, for example [from Emergy’nX](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-open-emergy/).

## Create a group

1. In the **Groups** section, click **+ New group**.
2. In the **Select meters to create a group** window, fill in **Name**, for example the fictitious name “Lighting — example wing”.
3. Check the submeters to include. Each row shows the meter’s name, its protocol and, for KNX, its main address.
4. On each checked row, choose **+ Sum** to add its contribution or **− Subtract** to deduct it. The operation can be chosen once the box is checked. Review the selected measurements so as not to count the same consumption twice.
5. Click **Save** in the window. The name is mandatory and at least one meter must be selected. The group appears in the form, with its members and their **+** or **−** signs.
6. [Save the dashboard](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-save/) to keep the change: saving the window alone does not save the dashboard.

**Cancel** or the window’s cross closes the selection without applying a new group. If **No sub-meters available. Add sub-meters first.** appears, go back to the submeter configuration.

## Edit a group

1. In the header of the group card, click the pencil **Edit the group**.
2. Change the name, the checked boxes and the operations.
3. Click **Save** in the window, then save the dashboard.

In the card, the **(subtracted)** mention accompanies a deducted member.

## Delete a group

1. Click the trash can **Delete the group** on the card.
2. The confirmation has a title starting with **Remove meter** followed by the group name, even in the French interface. Check this name.
3. Click **Confirm** to remove the group from the form, or **Cancel** to abandon.
4. Save the dashboard to keep the deletion.

Deleting removes the grouping without deleting the submeters that made it up. Before saving, [canceling the changes](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-save/) of an existing dashboard returns to the last saved state.

## Change the display order

1. Go to **Display order**, next to **Groups** on a wide screen, or further down the form on a narrow screen.
2. Locate the row of the submeter or group to move. Grab its dotted handle on the left, drag it, then drop it at the position you want.
3. Repeat the necessary moves, then [save the dashboard](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-save/).

The list organizes the ungrouped submeters and the groups: a submeter that is a member of a group does not appear in it as a separate row. If the list is empty, first check that a submeter or a group has been added.

## Check the result

- In the form, each group shows its members and their signs.
- After saving, go back to view mode to check the saved presentation.

## Troubleshooting

To correct how a group is displayed, edit the group: do not delete meters.
