--- title: "Chart’nX energy dashboard: name, power in kVA and phases" description: "Set up the General section of a Chart’nX energy dashboard: name, contract power in kVA, single-phase or three-phase and breaker rating per phase." canonical: https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-general/ language: en product: Chart’nX audience: - administrateur - installateur context: "Chart’nX: energy generator, General section, single-phase or three-phase installation" --- # Chart’nX energy dashboard: name, power in kVA and phases Context: Chart’nX: energy generator, General section, single-phase or three-phase installation The **General** section of the Chart’nX energy generator sets the dashboard name, the contract power in kVA and the type of electrical system. It is the first step in configuring an energy dashboard; the temperature and presence sources are then declared in the **Overlays** section. For installers and administrators in charge of the configuration. These fields are not the general information of a water dashboard. ## Before you start - You know the electricity contract and the type of installation of the project. - The **energy** generator is open from [the dashboard in Emergy’nX](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-open-emergy/) with **Configure**, or from **New dashboard** for a new dashboard. The example values below are fictitious: do not reuse them to configure a real installation. ## Name the dashboard and enter the contract power 1. Go to **General** through the **Sections** navigation on a computer, or by scrolling back up the form on mobile. 2. Fill in **Dashboard name**, which is mandatory, for example “Energy — example building”. Choose a name that is easy to recognize when viewing. 3. In **Power plan**, enter the contract power in **kVA**. This field is mandatory. It sets the dashboard and does not modify your subscription. ## Choose the type of electrical system 1. In **Electrical system**, choose **Single-phase** or **Three-phase** according to the installation. Do not change this value to make an invalid field disappear. 2. In three-phase, check **Breaker rating per phase (A)**. A value is suggested from the contract; it remains editable and must match the installation. A value of at least 1 A is required. The hint under the field states that the chart thresholds use A × 230 V. ## Declare the temperature and presence sources Measurements to overlay on meter charts, such as outdoor temperature, water temperature or presence, are declared in the **Overlays** section, located just below **General** in the form and in the **Sections** navigation. This section is optional. - **+ Add source** offers **Outdoor temperature**, **Water temperature** and **Presence / absence**; **Custom source…** is for other measurements. - Each source carries its own KNX group address or Modbus configuration and serves the whole dashboard. - On an existing dashboard, the temperature and presence addresses already saved appear there as sources. To fill in a source and then add it to a meter chart, follow [the guide to temperature and presence overlays](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-meter-display/). ## Check the result 1. Review the fields, then continue with the configuration of the meters. 2. When the form is ready, [save the dashboard](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-save/) and wait for the confirmation. 3. Check the dashboard in view mode. ## Troubleshooting - The banner indicates that no usable ETS file is loaded: KNX data can be neither monitored nor recorded in this context. Have the installer handle the project’s ETS import. Do not use fictitious addresses to get around the block. - You are modifying an existing dashboard: check the consequences on the meters, phases and overlays already configured. As long as you have not saved, [canceling the changes](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-save/) returns to the last save. - The contract or installation values are unknown: have them confirmed by the installer or by support. If you do not have the right ETS file or the appropriate path, write to support@can-nx.com with the project and the message displayed.
