--- title: Export data from a Chart’nX dashboard to a CSV file description: "Download the data of a Chart’nX dashboard as CSV: choose panels and series, period, time step and an Excel or raw format, without administrator rights." canonical: https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-export/ language: en product: Chart’nX audience: - utilisateur - administrateur - installateur context: "Chart’nX: saved dashboard in view mode, Export to CSV window, desktop or mobile" --- # Export data from a Chart’nX dashboard to a CSV file Context: Chart’nX: saved dashboard in view mode, Export to CSV window, desktop or mobile The **Export to CSV** window of a saved Chart’nX dashboard downloads the data of the panels and series you choose, over the period you want, in a file for spreadsheets or for data processing. The export creates a copy of the data: it does not modify the dashboard. For users with view access to the dashboard, as well as administrators and installers. The export does not require switching to administration. ## Before you start - The saved dashboard is open in view mode, with its charts and its period bar, [from Emergy’nX](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-open-emergy/) or [from Boss’nX](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-open-boss/). The export button exists neither in the **generator** nor in its preview tab. - View permission is enough: do not request administrator rights only to export. ## Open the export window 1. Check the project and dashboard name in the Chart’nX header. 2. In the top bar, select the download icon shaped like a down arrow, tooltip **Export to CSV**. It is located near the **Shared Y scale** and **Timezone** controls. 3. In the **Export to CSV** window, check the dashboard name. On a narrow screen, the panel selection and the settings follow one another vertically: scroll the window. The format settings are then grouped under **Advanced options**. ## Choose the panels and series 1. In **Panels to export**, check the panels you want under **Time series** and **Summaries**. 2. To take only some of a panel’s series, open it with the small chevron on the right of its row, then check the series you want. **overlay** rows that accompany regular series must be checked explicitly. 3. Beyond eight panels, the **Filter panels…** field appears: type part of the title you are looking for. **All** and **None** act on the panels visible with this filter; panels selected and then hidden remain selected. 4. Clear the filter to check the complete selection before continuing. ## Choose the format and the period 1. Choose **Excel report** for a CSV suited to spreadsheets, or **Raw data** for data processing. The differences and the detailed settings are described in [Choose the export format](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/chart-export-format/). 2. Under **Period**, check **From**, **To** and **Time step**. You can also choose **Displayed period**, **7 days**, **30 days** or **Previous month**. The end must be strictly after the start. The date and time fields use the browser’s local time. The timestamp written in the file is a separate setting, among the format options. ## Start the export 1. Review the estimate at the bottom of the window, then select **Export**. 2. In **Export in progress…**, follow the number of panels retrieved. Once the data has been retrieved and the files generated, the download starts and the window closes. Before starting, **Cancel** or the **Close** cross exits the window. During the export, **Stop all** interrupts the requests and returns to the settings. ## Check the result Open your browser’s downloads. A single file is delivered directly; several files are grouped in a ZIP archive. Before using the result, check the dashboard name, the period and the units. ## Troubleshooting If the export button is missing, go back to viewing the saved dashboard.
