--- title: Choose the three displayed values on a Boss’nX zone card description: "Show up to three measurements or states on a Boss’nX zone card: choose readable datapoints, their order and a custom label, then save and check." canonical: https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-zone-display/ language: en product: Boss’nX audience: - administrateur - installateur context: "Boss’nX, zone page: Displayed values window, for administrators or installers" --- # Choose the three displayed values on a Boss’nX zone card Context: Boss’nX, zone page: Displayed values window, for administrators or installers On the **Building** page, **By floor** tab, the card of a Boss’nX zone can show up to three values read from the datapoints of its components. The **Displayed values** setting on the zone page sets these values, their position and their label. Intended for the administrator or installer in charge of presenting the building. To view the zone’s components, see [the zone viewing guide](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-zone/). ## Before you start - You are allowed to modify the zone. The **Displayed values** button may appear even without this permission. - The zone’s components have datapoints configured for reading: only these datapoints are offered. ## Choose the datapoints and their position 1. Open the zone page from **Building**, **By floor** tab. 2. Click **Displayed values**. Check the zone name in the **Displayed values — …** title. 3. In **Value 1**, **Value 2** or **Value 3**, open **Select a datapoint**. 4. Locate the component name, then choose its datapoint. The list may also show its unit and data type. 5. Repeat for the other positions you want. The three positions are optional: fill in only the ones you need. A datapoint intended only to send a command is not offered. The viewing filters of the zone page do not reduce this list: check the name of the chosen component carefully. A datapoint already used in another position appears dimmed in the list, but remains selectable. ## Customize the label Under a filled position, the **Custom label** field, whose hint is **Optional**, replaces the label on the card. Leave it empty to use the datapoint’s label. Spaces at the beginning and end are removed when saving. Choose a short label: the card shortens labels longer than sixteen characters and adds an ellipsis. This label renames neither the component nor its datapoint. If you choose the same datapoint in two positions, its custom label is shared by both: changing it in one also changes it in the other. ## Remove a value or keep a gap Click **Remove** in the relevant position. Only its selection for the card is removed. You can leave **Value 1** empty and fill **Value 2**: the card then keeps a gap before the second value. Empty positions after the last filled value do not add rows. Removing all three selections clears the configured values of this card after saving. ## Save or abandon 1. Check the zone, the three positions and the labels. 2. Click **Save**. The button shows **Saving…** during the request. 3. Wait for the window to close on its own: it only closes once the save is accepted. To abandon before saving, choose **Cancel**, the cross, or click outside the window: your choices are not saved. **Esc** first closes the selection list if it is open, then the window. Once you have started saving, wait for the result: closing the window does not necessarily cancel the request already sent. ## Check the result 1. Return to **Building**, **By floor** tab, and find the zone card. Check the order and the labels. 2. If needed, reopen **Displayed values** to check the saved selections. A dash **—** instead of a value indicates that no usable value is available for this display; it is not a zero. Check the datapoint in its component before interpreting the card. Each user’s permissions apply to the card, whatever is chosen in this window: a datapoint hidden for their profile leaves its position empty. If a user is not supposed to see a value, have the administrator check their permissions. ## Troubleshooting | Situation | Cause | Action | | --- | --- | --- | | **No components in this zone.** | No component is offered for this setting. | Have the attachment of the expected component checked. | | **No datapoints available.** | No readable datapoint is offered in the list. | Have the configuration of the expected component checked. | | The window stays open after **Save**, or the setting is not kept when you reopen it | The save did not go through. | Consider the operation as not done and note the zone, the chosen positions and any message displayed. | | Action row out of view on a narrow screen | The buttons extend beyond the visible width. | Use a wider screen. | For a cut-off label, an unexpected gap or a datapoint missing from the list, follow [the zone viewing troubleshooting guide](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-zone-help/). ## Contact support If the save is still not confirmed, write to support@can-nx.com with the zone, the chosen positions and any message displayed.
