--- title: Duplicate or delete a Boss’nX schema from the Schemas page description: Copy a schema with Duplicate, delete it after confirmation or open it in the editor from the Actions menu of the Boss’nX Schemas list. canonical: https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-schemas-manage/ language: en product: Boss’nX audience: - administrateur - installateur context: "Boss’nX, Schemas list of a supervision on a computer: Edit schemas right required" --- # Duplicate or delete a Boss’nX schema from the Schemas page Context: Boss’nX, Schemas list of a supervision on a computer: Edit schemas right required The **Actions** menu of the **Schemas** list in a Boss’nX supervision lets you duplicate a schema, delete it or open it in the editor. This procedure is carried out on a computer and is intended for administrators or installers in charge of the site’s control drawings. To view a schema without changing it, follow [the reading guide](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-schemas-consult/). ## Before you start - Your role allows **Edit schemas**, together with **View schemas**. The role’s name is not enough to establish its rights: check [the role capabilities](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-role-capabilities/). - You are working on a computer: the **Actions** menu appears when you hover over the schema’s row. ## Open the Actions menu of the right schema 1. From the Dashboard, open **Schemas** in the header bar. If this page does not appear in the bar, open **Menu**, then choose **Schemas**. 2. If needed, expand the left panel with **Expand sidebar**, then search for the name you want in **Search schemas…**. 3. Hover over the schema’s row. To the right of its name, open the **three vertical dots**, tooltip **Actions**. 4. Check the name of this row before choosing an action: the menu concerns this row, even if another schema is displayed on the right. ## Duplicate a schema 1. Open **Actions** on the schema to copy. 2. Choose **Duplicate**, then wait for the operation to finish before trying again. 3. Find the new row: its name repeats the schema’s name with **(copy)**. If that name already exists, a number may be added, for example **(copy 2)**. 4. Click the name of this new row to open and check the copy. Fictional example: **Reception plan** gives **Reception plan (copy)**. The copy appears in the list, but the displayed drawing does not switch to it automatically. The original schema remains available. If a filter hides the copy, clear the search text. ## Delete a schema Deleting removes the schema from the list. To remove only a block from the Dashboard, follow [the schema block configuration](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-dashboard-schema-config/). 1. Open **Actions** on the row of the schema to delete. 2. Choose **Delete schema**. 3. The browser confirmation shows **Are you sure you want to delete the schema "schema name"?** Check the name. The buttons of this dialog depend on your browser and its language. 4. To keep the schema, cancel this confirmation. To delete it, confirm it. Canceling is only possible in this confirmation: in this procedure, no button restores a deleted schema afterwards. ## Open a schema in the editor or create one To edit a schema, choose **Edit schema** in its **Actions** menu. To start from a specific layer, first click that layer in the list, then open Actions on the corresponding schema. Wait for the editor to load before making any change. The name, the description, saving and leaving with a draft are described in [the editor guide](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-schema-editor-save/). The **+** button, at the top of the list panel, has the tooltip **Create schema** and opens the creation of a new drawing. It is distinct from **Add schema** in the Dashboard, which adds a display block. ## Check the result - After a duplication, the notification **Schema "schema name" duplicated.** appears and the copy shows up in the list. Open it to check its content. - After a deletion, check that the row has disappeared. If this schema was open, a remaining schema may be displayed automatically; if none remain, the list becomes empty. ## Troubleshooting | Observation | Action | | --- | --- | | The three dots do not appear | Check that the panel is expanded and hover over the row on a computer, then have the account’s rights checked. A missing action does not justify changing the page address. | | **Failed to duplicate the schema.** | Check the list before trying again, to avoid creating extra copies. If no copy appears and the operation remains impossible, contact support. | | **Failed to delete schema.** | Check whether the row is still present. If the result remains uncertain, send support the exact observation, without concluding that the operation was or was not saved. | | Deletion confirmed on the wrong schema | Contact support with its name and what happened; do not assume that recovery is possible. | Other situations are covered in [the schema questions and messages](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-schemas-help/). If the problem persists, write to support@can-nx.com stating the schema concerned, the message displayed and the checks made.
