--- title: "Boss’nX scenario triggers: fixed time, sunrise, sunset and conditions" description: Trigger a Boss’nX scenario at a fixed time or at sunrise or sunset with an offset, then restrict it by time range, days or dates. canonical: https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-scenarios-schedule/ language: en product: Boss’nX audience: - utilisateur - administrateur - installateur context: "Boss’nX Time Programming editor: WHEN and IF sections, including in Tuning mode" --- # Boss’nX scenario triggers: fixed time, sunrise, sunset and conditions Context: Boss’nX Time Programming editor: WHEN and IF sections, including in Tuning mode In the Boss’nX **Time Programming** editor, the **WHEN** section sets the moment a scenario triggers: a fixed time, or sunrise or sunset with an offset. The **IF** section then restricts execution with conditions: time range, days and months, date range, or day and night. For users, administrators and installers allowed to adjust or edit scenarios. To create a scenario, follow [the creation guide](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-scenarios-create/). ## Before you start - The **Operate scenarios** permission lets you adjust an existing scenario; **Edit scenarios** is required to add or remove elements. - The intended times match the site and the schedule prepared by the installer. ## Open the scenario to adjust 1. Open **Menu → Time programming**. On a tablet or phone, **Menu** is at the right of the bottom bar. 2. Find the scenario card and click the pencil **Edit scenario**. 3. If the **Tuning mode** banner appears, change only the existing options: times, conditions, values and delays of the actions. The name stays locked and the add or remove controls are absent. Do not move actions in this mode. ## Trigger at a fixed time In **Triggers**, a **Fixed time** block contains the **Time** field: set the hours and minutes there. To create this block, with the necessary permissions: **Add trigger → Fixed time**. Review and adapt the initially proposed time, for example by replacing it with **07:30**. If the time has already passed when you save, do not expect a catch-up execution. Several triggers are linked by **OR**: each one is a possible trigger moment. A time added to a solar event does not require both to occur at the same time. ## Trigger at sunrise or sunset 1. With edit permissions, choose **Add trigger → Sun event**; otherwise, adjust the existing block. 2. In its list, choose **Sunrise** or **Sunset**. 3. Set the direction of the offset with the small button: **+** means after the event; click it to display **−**, which means before. The editor shows only these symbols. 4. Fill in the **hours** and **minutes** of the offset: from 0 to 23 hours and from 0 to 59 minutes. An offset of 0 hours and 0 minutes targets the event itself. 5. Review the event and the sign before saving. Example: **Sunset**, **−**, 0 hours and 15 minutes triggers the scenario a quarter of an hour before sunset. The calculation depends on the location and time of the installation. If this context is not established or the solar time seems inconsistent, have it checked by the installer or support, rather than compensating with an arbitrary large offset. ## Restrict execution with conditions **Conditions** blocks are linked by **AND**: all the restrictions must be satisfied together. A condition does not trigger any action on its own. **No conditions — always active** indicates that there is no restriction in this section; also check the activation of the scenario and its triggers. ### Limit to a time range Choose **Add condition → Time range**, then fill in **Start** and **End**, for example 08:00 to 18:00. A range crossing midnight, such as 22:00 to 06:00, represents a night window. To remove any time restriction, an authorized person removes the block with its cross; do not replace the range with two identical times. ### Days, dates, day and night: precautions The other choices require particular attention: - **Days and months** shows the selected days and months, the **Weekdays** and **Weekend** shortcuts, and two **All** buttons, one for the days, the other for the months. You can review an existing selection. To restrict execution to certain days, have the setting confirmed by support before changing or enabling this restriction. Do not shift the chosen days to work around an unexpected result. - **Date range** shows **Start** and **End** with two date fields. Enter explicit dates if this procedure has been validated for your installation. To cover the whole last day, an annual recurrence or a limit related to the time zone, have the rule confirmed by support: an end date does not necessarily include all its hours. - **Day / Night** shows the sunrise and sunset offsets, without a selector between day and night: its title alone does not set a “night” choice. To get a night condition or set this block without ambiguity, contact support. - Several blocks of the same condition type: have the combination validated by support before saving. Conditions combined by **AND** normally restrict the schedule; do not add duplicate blocks to widen a period. ## Save the settings 1. Review the **WHEN**, **IF** and **THEN** sections after your changes. 2. Click **Save**, then wait for **Scenario updated** and the return to the list. ## Check the result Reopen the pencil to check the saved values. This review confirms the displayed settings, not a hardware execution: then observe the intended behavior on site. ## Troubleshooting If the time has changed but the action does not happen: 1. Check the card in **All**, its activation, the reviewed values, the sign of the solar offset and the combined conditions. 2. Then check the actions and their delays with an authorized person, using the [actions guide](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-scenarios-actions/). For activation, follow [the viewing guide](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-scenarios-consult/). If these checks have already been done, contact support@can-nx.com, stating the scenario, the context, the expected time, the observed result and the attempts already made, without secret credentials.
