--- title: Create a guest access QR code and choose its components in Boss’nX description: "Generate a guest access QR code in Boss’nX: authorized components, label and location restriction, then check the QR image and the guest link." canonical: https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-qr-create/ language: en product: Boss’nX audience: - administrateur - installateur context: "Boss’nX supervision: Menu → Guest access → New QR code, Manage topology right" --- # Create a guest access QR code and choose its components in Boss’nX Context: Boss’nX supervision: Menu → Guest access → New QR code, Manage topology right A Boss’nX QR access opens a selection of site components to a guest: they scan the room’s QR code with their phone, without credentials. You choose the authorized components, give the code a label and add a location restriction if needed. Intended for administrators and installers. To share the login page with a user who has an account, follow [sharing the login link](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-share-login/) instead. ## Before you start - You have the **Manage topology** right in the relevant supervision. - To restrict access to people on site, a position is required: the one saved in [the site coordinates](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-site-info/), or a point chosen on the map. Without either, creation remains blocked. ## Open the creation window Open **Menu → Guest access**, in the Administration family, then **New QR code**. On a tablet or phone, **Menu** is at the right of the bottom bar; [the Boss navigation](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-navigation/) describes these entry points. From **Building**, two other entries make it easier to identify the context: - a zone may offer **Create QR access**; in this window, **Existing codes** is a tab on a small screen and a panel next to the creation on a large screen; - a floor may offer **Create code**, with the tooltip **Create QR from this floor**. Opening the window from a zone does not check its components, and the picker may show the rest of the site: always check the checkboxes. ## Choose the authorized components 1. In **Create room QR access**, choose **Assigned** to select the components now, or **Unassigned** to prepare a code that you will assign later. An unassigned code gives access to no component. 2. In **Assigned** mode, search for a building part, a floor, a zone or a component. 3. Expand the rows with their chevron or by clicking the branch name, then check the components you want. The **All** checkbox selects the components of the displayed branch; **Whole site** acts on the visible search results. 4. Clear the search, then check the whole selection and the counter of selected components. Changing the search does not uncheck components already selected outside the results: check the counter and clear the filter before confirming. When they are offered, the **Independent** and **(no zone)** groups gather the components not attached to any zone. ## Name and generate the code 1. Fill in **Code label**. Text other than spaces is required, even if the field’s placeholder text contains “optional”. Replace the suggested name, **Room QR**, with a clear marker, for example “Visitor reception” (a fictional example). 2. If access must be restricted to people on site, check **Location security** and check the suggested position, as described in [the location settings](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-qr-configure/). 3. Click **Create code** once. ## Check the result 1. When creation finishes, the **Generated access** panel shows the QR image and the **Guest link:**. 2. Click **Close** and find the label in the **Codes** list. 3. Click **View QR** to reopen the image and the link. For [downloading and printing](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-qr-print/), start from this saved code. 4. To check the components actually accessible and their commands, open the access as the guest will, following [open a guest access](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-qr-guest-access/). **Cancel** or **Close** leaves the window without erasing a code that has already been generated: to remove it, go through [the archives](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-qr-archive/). To assign the code later or limit the session duration, open [Configure](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-qr-configure/). ## Troubleshooting | Message or symptom | Action | | --- | --- | | **Select at least one equipment.** | Check at least one component in **Assigned** mode. | | **Code label is required.** | Fill in **Code label**. | | **Pick a location on the map — the site has no registered coordinates.** | Choose a point on the map or have the site coordinates filled in. | | **No results** | Clear the search and expand the right branch before concluding that the component is missing. | | The form stays displayed or empties without showing the image | First check the **Codes** list to avoid creating a duplicate; an existing code can be reopened with **View QR**. | If the creation or the access remains uncertain, contact support@can-nx.com with the site, the label, the message and the attempts already made. Do not attach the guest link or the private QR code. French labels: **Menu → Accès invités → Nouveau code QR**, **Affecté**, **Sans affectation**, **Tout le site**, **Libelle du code**, **Securite par localisation**, **Creer un code**, **Accès généré**, **Lien invite :**.
