--- title: Duplicate, disable or delete a Modbus gateway in Boss’nX description: Find a Modbus TCP gateway in Boss’nX, duplicate it, stop its polling or delete it, and resolve the refusal caused by the datapoints that still use it. canonical: https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-modbus-gateway-manage/ language: en product: Boss’nX audience: - administrateur - installateur context: "Boss’nX, supervision on a computer: Menu → Modbus gateways, with the Manage Modbus right" --- # Duplicate, disable or delete a Modbus gateway in Boss’nX Context: Boss’nX, supervision on a computer: Menu → Modbus gateways, with the Manage Modbus right The **Modbus Gateways** page in Boss’nX lists the supervision’s shared Modbus TCP accesses. There you can find a gateway, duplicate it for a new access, stop or resume its polling, or delete it. Intended for administrators and installers with **Manage Modbus**, preferably on a computer to work with the list and the form side by side. To create a gateway or change its fields, follow [adding or editing a Modbus gateway](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-modbus-gateway-create/). ## Find a gateway 1. In the relevant supervision, open **Menu → Modbus gateways**, in the **Integration** family; if it is folded, click its title first. 2. Use the search above the list: it filters the gateways by **name**, **IP address** or **port**. 3. Click **Name**, **IP** or **Port** to sort; click the same column again to reverse the order. 4. Click a row to review its parameters on the right. **No gateways configured.** also appears when the search finds nothing: clear it if an expected gateway is missing. ## Duplicate a gateway 1. If a form is open, click **Cancel** before starting. 2. On the row of the entry you want, click the icon showing two documents, **Duplicate**, to the right of the switch. 3. In **Duplicate gateway**, check the copied parameters. Adapt the name, the address, the port and the CannX gateway to the new planned access: the name is not changed automatically. 4. Click **Save**. **Cancel** before saving abandons the copy. Duplication prepares a new gateway entry. Before using the copy, have the installer or support confirm what happens to the associations of Boss’nX datapoints and metering configurations: the new name appearing in the list does not tell you whether they were transferred or lost. ## Enable or disable a gateway A disabled gateway stops polling, as the interface states: the linked datapoints may report **No signal** after their delay. Notify the users concerned and check the expected impact with the installer. Do not disable a gateway simply to test its presence. 1. Finish or cancel any open form, then check the row concerned. 2. Click the switch in the **Active** column, whose tooltip is **Enabled**. The change applies immediately, without confirmation. To enable the gateway again, use the switch or check **Enabled** in the form, then click **Save**. ## Delete a gateway No restore is offered on this page. Recreating an entry with the same name guarantees neither that the old associations are restored nor that they are lost: if a recovery may be needed, contact support before acting. 1. Have the datapoints and configurations that use this gateway checked. 2. On the right row, click the **Delete** trash icon. 3. Read the confirmation **Delete gateway "…"?** and check the name. Cancel in the browser window to keep the entry, or confirm to request its deletion. 4. Wait for **Deleted successfully.** ## Check the result - After a duplication, find and reopen the new entry to review its parameters. - After enabling or disabling, reopen the row and check the **Enabled** checkbox. Then check that data is coming in: the saved option alone does not show that physical communications have resumed. - After a deletion, clear the search and check that the entry has disappeared from the list. ## Troubleshooting **Cannot delete: … Boss'nX datapoints reference this gateway.**, shown to the right of the list, means that the deletion was refused. Have the installer handle the references concerned before a new request. Do not delete useful datapoints just to make the message disappear. If **Error while saving.** appears after clicking the switch, reopen the row to read the actual state of **Enabled** before trying again. For **Error while deleting.**, an unexplained reference or a recovery to organize, contact support@can-nx.com with the supervision, the gateway name, the message, the number of references if it is displayed and the checks already made. French labels: **Nouvelle passerelle**, **Nom**, **IP**, **Port**, **Actif**, **Activée**, **Dupliquer**, **Dupliquer la passerelle**, **Supprimer**, **Suppression impossible : … datapoints Boss'nX référencent cette passerelle.**
