--- title: Add a Boss’nX energy widget and link it to a Chart’nX dashboard description: Add an energy widget to the dashboard of a Boss’nX supervision, link it to a Chart’nX dashboard, rename or remove it, then save the dashboard layout. canonical: https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-energy-config/ language: en product: Boss’nX audience: - administrateur - installateur context: "Boss’nX, supervision dashboard in edit mode: energy widget gear" --- # Add a Boss’nX energy widget and link it to a Chart’nX dashboard Context: Boss’nX, supervision dashboard in edit mode: energy widget gear The energy widget shows, on the **Dashboard** of a Boss’nX supervision, how the consumption of a Chart’nX dashboard is split. This procedure adds the widget, links it to the dashboard you want, renames or removes it, then saves the supervision dashboard. Intended for the administrator or installer authorized to edit the supervision’s dashboard. For the hypervision’s aggregated dashboard, follow [linking Chart’nX dashboards in hypervision](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-hypervision-energy-config/). ## Before you start - Your account can edit the supervision’s **Dashboard**, and the **Energy** widget type is allowed for its role. - The supervision is linked to the expected project, and a suitable Chart’nX dashboard is available for this project. - Use a wide screen to find the controls. ## Add a widget or open its configuration 1. Open the expected supervision and **Dashboard**, as described in [Boss’nX navigation](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-navigation/). 2. In the header, click the **Edit layout** pencil. The **Visible widgets** panel appears. 3. To create an additional block, click **Add an energy widget** in the **Energy** section, then scroll the dashboard down to the new block. 4. To configure an existing block, find **Energy breakdown** or its custom title. 5. Click the **orange gear at the top left of the widget**, named **Configure the energy widget**. The **Energy widget** panel opens. You can add several widgets, each with its own association. In edit mode, a widget that has no dashboard yet shows **No Chart’nX dashboard configured. Use the gear button to select one.** ## Link the Chart’nX dashboard 1. In **Linked Chart'nX dashboard**, wait for **Loading Chart'nX dashboards…** to finish, then choose the expected dashboard. 2. Check that it matches the project and the consumption to present. The combined values must allow a consistent comparison, in particular for their units. 3. Close the panel with its **Close** cross, the Escape key or a click outside. The choice remains prepared in the dashboard being edited. 4. Click **Finish editing**, the blue floppy-disk button that replaces the pencil in the header, to save the dashboard. The panel has no Save button: the selection is prepared immediately, and closing the panel keeps it. No project or access token field needs to be filled in. If **No Chart'nX dashboards available** or **Unable to load Chart'nX dashboards.** appears, do not select another project or dashboard at random. Check the supervision and the expected dashboard with its administrator, then follow [energy widget troubleshooting](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-energy-help/). Before **Finish editing**, **Restore original layout**, in **Visible widgets**, returns the dashboard to its state at the start of editing. This restoration also discards the other changes in progress on the dashboard: see [save or restore the dashboard](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-dashboard-layout/). ## Rename the widget 1. In edit mode, click the **small pencil next to the title**, **Rename**. 2. Enter the title you want in **Nom du widget** (widget name), for example **Workshop energy** (a fictional example). 3. Confirm with Enter or the green **Valider** (confirm) check mark, then check the title shown. 4. Click **Finish editing** to save the dashboard. To abandon the entry before confirming, press Escape while the cursor is in the field. Leaving the field another way may confirm the text: read the title again if you clicked elsewhere. To return to the default title, empty the field, confirm and save the dashboard. A custom title stays the same when you change language. ## Remove an energy widget 1. Turn on **Edit layout**, then open the gear of the relevant widget. 2. Click **Delete this widget**. The block disappears from the dashboard being edited, with no additional confirmation. 3. To get it back before saving, use **Restore original layout**. It also restores the other settings of this editing session. 4. To keep the deletion, click **Finish editing**. Deletion removes this widget from the supervision dashboard, not the Chart’nX dashboard itself. To restore a widget that was deleted and saved later on, add a new one and configure its association. ## Check the result 1. Wait for the save to finish, then reopen **Dashboard**. 2. Check the widget and its title, or that the deleted block is gone. 3. To review the association, go back to **Edit layout**, open the gear and read **Linked Chart'nX dashboard**. Then close the panel and finish editing. 4. View the widget’s values as described in [reading the energy breakdown](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-energy/). ## Troubleshooting - The edit button or the **Energy** section is missing: have the account’s authorizations and the widgets allowed for its role checked. - A save remains without a result, or the settings read back do not match the expected choice: follow [energy widget troubleshooting](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-energy-help/). If a missing control or the result remains unexplained, write to support@can-nx.com stating the supervision, the widget, the expected dashboard and the steps taken. The **Nom du widget** field and the **Valider** check mark keep these French labels in the English interface.
