The requested value stays within the datapoint’s limits and is sent to the installation, after a confirmation if the datapoint requires one. For users, administrators and installers authorized to control the component, in a standalone supervision or one opened from the hypervision. To choose a state or an option, or to send a pulse, follow [the command buttons guide](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-command-buttons/) instead. ## Before you start - Open [the component detail](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-component/), locate the datapoint to set and check its unit. - Choose a setpoint suited to the installation and to its configured limits. If you do not know which value to request, have the site manager specify it. ## Adjust with + and − 1. Locate the value between **−** and **+**. 2. Briefly click **+**, whose tooltip is **Increase**, or **−**, **Decrease**. The requested value increases or decreases by the step configured for this datapoint, without exceeding its limits. ![Numeric point row with the − and + buttons on either side of the value](https://wiki.can-nx.com/media/en/boss-command-numeric/boutons.webp) 3. If a confirmation appears, follow the section “Confirm or cancel the command”. Otherwise, the request is sent automatically. 4. Wait for the displayed feedback before continuing. Holding the button for about half a second directly requests the maximum limit with **+**, or the minimum limit with **−**. It does not scroll the value gradually: for a single step, use a short click. ## Enter a precise value 1. Click the number itself, between the two buttons. Its tooltip is **Click to edit value**. 2. Replace the number in the field that appears. 3. Press **Enter** to validate. Leaving the field also validates the entry; before that, **Esc** discards the current entry. 4. Handle the confirmation if it appears, then check the value and the result. A value entered outside the limits is brought back to the corresponding limit. This automatic correction says nothing about whether the value suits the installation: check it before sending. The setpoint display is rounded to one decimal place; a more precise entry may not be fully visible. ## Use a slider Some datapoints show a slider instead of the **+** and **−** buttons. 1. Hover over the slider to see its limits in the tooltip. 2. Move it to the value you want. While you move it, the displayed value follows the slider in orange and nothing is sent; screen readers announce **not sent**. 3. Release the slider to request this value. With the keyboard, the request is sent when you release the key used to move it. 4. Accept the confirmation if it appears, then check the result. ## Confirm or cancel the command Whether a confirmation appears depends on the datapoint’s configuration. After adjustments with **+** or **−**, it may appear after a short pause of about one second. 1. In **Confirmer la commande** (confirm the command), check that you want to send the value you have just chosen. The message **Voulez-vous envoyer cette commande ?** (do you want to send this command?) does not necessarily restate the number: read the selected value on the row again. 2. Click **Envoyer** (send) to transmit the request. The window closes without canceling the request: wait for its result before leaving the procedure. 3. To abandon before sending, choose **Annuler** (cancel) or press **Esc**. After **Annuler**, the proposed value may remain displayed in orange although it was not sent. To see the current display again, leave the detail, then reopen the component. ## Check the result The screen may immediately display the requested value. Then check the datapoint’s status feedback or the measurement datapoint relevant to the installation: it shows whether the equipment has reached the setpoint. The orange color disappearing is not enough on its own. ## Troubleshooting - **Action non confirmée. Veuillez réessayer.** (action not confirmed, please try again), or feedback that differs from your request: follow [command troubleshooting](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-command-help/). - Limits, step, style or proposed values to change on a KNX datapoint: the administrator follows [the display and command settings](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-point-display/). If the check does not let you conclude, contact support@can-nx.com with the datapoint, the requested value and the feedback observed. French labels: **Augmenter**, **Diminuer**, **Cliquer pour éditer la valeur**, **non envoyé**. The generic confirmation and some command messages remain in French in the English interface.
