--- title: Export Boss’nX analytics measurements to CSV description: "Download the values of a Boss’nX chart as CSV: which datapoints and period are exported, columns, semicolon separator, UTF-8 encoding and UTC timestamps." canonical: https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-analytics-export/ language: en product: Boss’nX audience: - utilisateur - administrateur - installateur context: "Boss’nX, building supervision: Analytics page, Trends tab, after generating the chart" --- # Export Boss’nX analytics measurements to CSV Context: Boss’nX, building supervision: Analytics page, Trends tab, after generating the chart In the **Trends** tab of the **Analytics** page, the **Export to CSV** button downloads the values of the generated Boss’nX chart: a spreadsheet file with timestamp, location, datapoint, address, value and unit. It is intended for users authorized to view analytics, as well as administrators and installers. This export is the one from the Boss’nX chart, separate from the export commands of the **Chart'nX** tab. ## Prepare the chart to export 1. Open [the analytics of the relevant building](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-analytics-consult/). 2. In **Datapoints**, choose the datapoints to export, or apply a [favorite selection](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-analytics-favorites/). To start from scratch, go back to **All**, clear the search, click **Deselect all**, then check the datapoints you want. 3. Choose the [period, aggregation and precision](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-analytics-periods/) you need. 4. Click **Generate chart** and wait for the result. Check the series and the period shown under **Chart preview**. ## Download the CSV file 1. Click **Export to CSV**, the button with a download arrow, near **Configuration**. 2. Find the file in your browser’s downloads or in the location chosen in its dialog box. Its name starts with “analytics” and normally includes the local dates and times of the applied period. 3. Open the CSV in your spreadsheet. If needed, choose the **UTF-8** encoding and the **semicolon** separator. The download deletes neither the measurements nor the selection. ## Export exactly the datapoints and period you want The file contains the series of the last generated chart. Changing the checkboxes or the dates without regenerating does not replace this result: the button can therefore remain available even though you have unchecked all the datapoints. **Settings changed · generate to apply them** flags this gap. Hiding a series with the legend or zooming in on an hour does not restrict the CSV. To export only certain datapoints or a particular time slot, define this selection and this period, then generate the chart before exporting. The exported values are those received for the chart’s request, with its parameters, not all the raw measurements or archives of the installation. Check the rows if you need strict time boundaries. ## Read the columns and timestamps In English, the columns are **Timestamp**, **Building part**, **Floor**, **Zone**, **Component**, **Datapoint**, **Address**, **Value** and **Unit**. Some location information may be empty. Depending on the datapoint type, the **Address** column does not necessarily contain a KNX address. The timestamps in the file are in **UTC**, recognizable by the final “Z”. The interface and the file name use the browser’s local times: compare an apparent time difference taking the time zone and the date into account. Keep the original timestamps rather than changing them to make them match visually. A zero value is kept. A missing value produces no row: the lines that bridge an interval without data or extend the last value do not become measurements in the CSV. A file may contain only its headers if the received series contain no usable value. ## Check the result Open the file and check the first rows: the datapoints, timestamps and values must match the generated chart. ## Troubleshooting | Symptom | Action | | --- | --- | | **Export to CSV** grayed out | Generate a chart that contains series. Choosing datapoints alone is not enough. | | The file contains datapoints you removed | Go back to **All** without a search, check the selection, regenerate and download a new file. | | The file covers another period or goes beyond the zoom | Check the period applied to the chart. Choose the boundaries you want in the calendar and regenerate. Zooming does not limit the export. | | Everything appears in a single column | Import the file specifying the semicolon as the separator. | | Accented characters are unreadable | Reopen or import the file as UTF-8. | | File cannot be found | Check the browser’s download list and any message saying the download was blocked. | | Expected rows are missing | Check the datapoint, the period and the request parameters. Bridging periods without data does not recreate measurements. | ## Contact support If these checks are not enough, write to support@can-nx.com with the product, the building, the datapoints, the period, the aggregation, the precision and the symptom. Prepare an anonymized extract only if support asks for it, and do not send sensitive data.
