--- title: Put a datapoint in standby in Boss’nX and reactivate its notifications description: Suspend a datapoint’s alarm notifications with Boss’nX standby, then reactivate them from the Standby tab and check where the row appears again. canonical: https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-alarms-standby/ language: en product: Boss’nX audience: - utilisateur - administrateur - installateur context: "Boss’nX: Alarms page of a supervision, Acknowledge alarms capability; not in aggregated alarms" --- # Put a datapoint in standby in Boss’nX and reactivate its notifications Context: Boss’nX: Alarms page of a supervision, Acknowledge alarms capability; not in aggregated alarms Standby suspends the alarm notifications of a datapoint in Boss’nX, for example to silence a datapoint that keeps triggering alarms. Use it only when this suspension is wanted: it does not fix the cause of an alarm and does not command a piece of equipment to stop. This procedure offers no duration or scheduled reactivation. For users, administrators and installers authorized to acknowledge alarms. To mark a single alarm as handled without suspending notifications, use [acknowledgment](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-alarms-acknowledge/) instead. ## Before you start - Your role has the **Acknowledge alarms** capability, which also gives access to standby. The view right alone does not give these actions. See [a role’s capabilities](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-role-capabilities/). - You are working in the building’s supervision. The hypervision’s **Aggregated alarms** page does not offer these actions: open the supervision concerned, then **Alarms**. See [Boss’nX navigation](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-navigation/). ## Put a datapoint in standby 1. In **Alarm History**, choose **Ongoing** and find the row concerned. 2. Check the building, the component and the message. The setting applies to the datapoint: several active alarms of this same datapoint may be concerned. 3. In the **Actions** column, click **Set standby**. 4. The **Set standby** window states: **Notifications will be disabled for this datapoint. Do you want to continue?** 5. Click **Yes, set standby** to confirm, or **Cancel** to keep the notifications. 6. Wait for **Alarm set to standby.** ## Reactivate notifications 1. In the same supervision, open **Alarms → Standby** and find the row. 2. Click **Reactivate**. 3. In **Reactivate notifications**, click **Yes, reactivate** to request reactivation, or **Cancel** to keep the standby. 4. Wait for **Alarm reactivated.** The **Reactivate** button on this page relies on an active row of the datapoint in standby. If you can no longer find this row, have the administrator check the datapoint or contact support: the alarm’s disappearance does not indicate that the notifications have been reactivated. With **Manage components**, you can also check or correct the standby in [the alarm datapoint form](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-point-alarm-help/). Before confirmation, **Cancel** or **Escape** lets you abandon. After confirmation, wait for the result: closing the window does not cancel the request. ## Check the result - After setting standby, open **Standby** and find the row with the **Standby** chip. The alarm’s status may remain **Active**; the inactive entries of the same datapoint remain in the **Ended** tab. - After reactivating, check that the row leaves **Standby**. Find it in **Ongoing** if it is still active, checking the other filters if they hide it. To understand the columns, see [the alarm history](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-alarms-consult/). ## Troubleshooting - **Set standby** or **Reactivate** does not appear: check that you are in a supervision and that the alarm is active or already in standby, then have the **Acknowledge alarms** capability of your role checked. - **Unable to change standby status.**, **Unable to change standby: missing identifiers.** or the expected result does not appear: check the tab and the filters. Do not repeat confirmations without knowing the current state. If the problem persists, contact support@can-nx.com with the building, the component, the message and the desired request: suspension or reactivation.
