--- title: Delete entries from the alarm history in Boss’nX description: Select and permanently delete alarms from the Boss’nX alarm history without selection mistakes, then check the result after reopening the page. canonical: https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-alarms-delete/ language: en product: Boss’nX audience: - administrateur - installateur context: "Boss’nX: Alarms or Aggregated alarms page, Delete alarm history capability" --- # Delete entries from the alarm history in Boss’nX Context: Boss’nX: Alarms or Aggregated alarms page, Delete alarm history capability Boss’nX lets you permanently delete entries from the alarm history, row by row or for all the displayed results, in a supervision as well as in hypervision. Deletion removes the entries from the history; it does not resolve the cause of an alarm and the procedure offers no restore. For the administrator or installer authorized to manage alarms. To simply acknowledge an entry, use [acknowledgment](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-alarms-acknowledge/). ## Before you start - Your role has the **Delete alarm history** capability. The view or acknowledgment rights alone do not show the **Delete** button. See [a role’s capabilities](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-role-capabilities/). - If you need to keep a copy of the information, first make [a CSV export](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-alarms-export/). ## Select the entries to delete 1. Open **Alarms** in the supervision, or **Aggregated alarms** in hypervision, and check the context. 2. Choose the appropriate tab and filters. See [searching for alarms](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/boss-alarms-consult/). 3. To start from an empty selection, switch to another tab, then return to the tab you want. Check that **Delete** is disabled before starting the new selection. 4. Check the box on the left of each row to delete, after checking the component, the message and the time. 5. To select all the rows of the current results, use the header box. When they are all checked, a new click unchecks these visible rows. 6. Check the number shown by **Delete (…)**. The selection follows these rules: - changing the search, the period or the chips keeps the boxes already checked, even outside the visible results; - the header box only acts on the current results and therefore does not necessarily empty the whole selection; - only the tab change described in step 3 clears the entire selection. In the aggregated view, also check the projects concerned. Deletions across several supervisions may end differently: a failure has not necessarily cancelled all the requests. ## Confirm the deletion 1. Click **Delete (…)**. 2. In **Delete selected alarms**, check the number announced in the permanent deletion request. 3. Click **Yes, delete** to send the request, or **Cancel** to keep the entries. Cancelling keeps the checked boxes; **Escape** also closes this window before sending. 4. Wait for the window to close. After **Yes, delete**, closing the window does not cancel the request. ## Check the result 1. Note the entries that have disappeared and those that remain selected. 2. Reopen the history, get back to the same context and the same filters, then check the saved result. ## Troubleshooting | Symptom or message | Check and next step | | --- | --- | | **Delete** is missing | Have the **Delete alarm history** capability of your role checked. | | **Delete** is disabled | Check the selection. | | A notification covers an action | Wait for it to disappear before clicking. | | **Suppression des alarmes non confirmée. Veuillez réessayer.** (alarm deletion not confirmed, please try again) | Reopen the history and note the entries still present. If some rows remain selected after an attempt, check them one by one before any new confirmation. | If the failure persists, if the number of entries deleted is uncertain or if you are trying to restore an entry, contact support@can-nx.com with the context, the components, the messages and the checks made. Do not count on a restore. French labels: **Supprimer**, **Supprimer (…)**, **Supprimer les alarmes sélectionnées**, **Oui, supprimer**, **Annuler**. The unconfirmed deletion message stays in French in the English interface.
